NEW YORK!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was joking around with my Mom one day, bugging her that we need to do a girls trip to New York before both of my sisters had their babies (Aunt life is quite the treat, you can have them when they are being cute and all about the snuggles, then ship them back when they have crossed over to the world of ‘I hate my life, give me food.’) So, needless to say, she took the bait and ran with it! We hopped in the car, drove to Jacksonville, and jumped on the plane to New York. If you asked me three years ago where I wanted to live when I graduated college, my immediate response would be New York….if you asked me now…I can’t say my answer would be the same!! I’ve been here two days and the subway maps literally look like connect the dots that we played when we were younger. And all of the hustle and bustle and cars honking constantly gives me anxiety. Hahaha! I jump every time it happens…which is quite often so i’ll let that mental picture set in. We wandered aimlessly around the city all Friday, stumbling across the motherland…..FREE PEOPLE. Like how can a store be so good looking? I looked like a kid that had just seen Disney World for the first time, jaw dropped and everything. The aesthetics, the smells, the merchandise!!!!!! I wanted to stay in there forever…it was such a dream. Even Anthropologie was the same way, although I am a tad bit more fond of Free People 😛 My mom goes “If you were a store, this would be it.” I died. We also stumbled upon the bakery called ‘Magnolia Bakery’ which was also a dream. We all got something different and had a little bit of each. I got the pumpkin cupcake and wanted about four more. Another stop we made was to the 9/11 Memorial. There are no words to describe your experience here…it is eye-opening, startling, heart wrenching, and so much more. It shows such tragedy and pain but also how we came together in such a time like that. I highly highly highly recommend taking a trip there if you adventure to New York. I was pretty young when it happened, in first grade. My mom said I was too young to really know what was happening so seeing it so real in the memorial made it feel like it was just yesterday. Never forget. We were all so tired after our first day of roaming that we literally were asleep by 8! New York will do that to you. Happy traveling!!! Xoxo.
