Watermelon is good for the soul; I am sure of it. Growing up in Florida, I swear, watermelon is its own food group. It signifies the beginning of summer. My dad grows watermelon on the farm that he works on so you can always find at least three at our house at all times. Like I have said a multitude of times, Tallahassee has some wonderful places to discover, Lake Ella being one of them. It’s almost like its very own community of shops and in the middle is a huge lake with lots of little baby ducks (fair warning: mama duck does not like visitors), turtles, and oh, lots of dogs! We met at least three today while adventuring. It is the perfect place for a picnic. So we brought our own little picnic of fruit to enjoy on this beautiful day. In the shops, we have an amazing coffee place called ‘Black Dog.’ Sitting outside and enjoying a good book is the greatest thing. Currently, I am reading ‘Gone Girl.’ A little behind the times I know but, hey, at least it is a work in progress. Dressing for Florida heat can be a pain sometimes, so my go-to outfit usually consists of a sun dress or a pair of shorts and t-shirt. Today clearly was the latter half of that. My new obsession has been boyfriend shorts..I mean what better than boyfriend jeans than boyfriend SHORTS?! One of my biggest pet peeves is when you constantly have to do the “pants dance” to get a pair of pants/shorts on (may be an indicator of too small shorts but I never give up.) So with boyfriend shorts, all the work is done for you. They are simply wonderful. Another thing that I am really loving this season is gladiator sandals. Jeffery Campbell has some awesome ones but his stuff can be a bit pricey. Steve Madden is my go-to man and once again, he has nailed it. His shoes are also reasonably priced. Another beautiful day in the books. Happy fifth of May. Cheers. Xoxo.
